VLC is a free and open source cross-platform multimedia player and framework that plays most multimedia files as well as DVD, Audio CD, VCD, and various streaming protocols. That's what is says on their we I have used a variety of media playres over the years and they all seem to work pretty well under most circumstances. Today doing a remote support from out store in Laguna Hills i had a client who could not open a dvd which was sent to him. I donned my white hat and logged into his computer to come to the rescue. I discoved the DVD which he had beebn sent which did contain a full set of DVD files had been burned incorrectly and would not play from standard players. The DVD folders were within another folder on the DVD so most software looks one level in for the files it needs, did not find them and gave up. Over the horizon came VLC Media Player to the rescue.
